The Netherland has a very rich history which excelled during the so called Golden age. Most Dutch people already know the history of their own county. Culture during the golden age

The golden age is a time period in which the Dutch country flourished. The cultural development in the low Countries stood out from many of the neighbouring countries. The Dutch had a couple of cultural activities that were available for the residents. The town militia that the Dutch called a “Schutterij” was used for town defence but was also served as meeting place for much of the Dutch people who had acquired a higher status. The Schutterij was used to allow people to attend activities like drama, discussion ad poetry.

Painting

There are many Famous paintings that originated from the Dutch golden age. Many of the painting from this timeframe are dominated by baroque art. The Dutch were leading in developing subjects that were a part of life like: landscapes, still life and portraiture. Church art was literally not existent in the Dutch republic. There are several subjects that were characteristic of the Dutch Baroque painting style, Civic and militia guilds. A good example of such a painting is The Night watch of Famous Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn. Johannes Vermeer was another painter that acquired a lot of fame during this time.
