Learn Dutch fast and easy with these tips
If you are
going to attend a Dutch course in
Amsterdam and want to prepare yourself, you are at the right address. In
this article we give you tips about learning Dutch. These tips you can use
during the Dutch
course in Amsterdam. You can share them with your fellow students to
help them.
Less is more
When
learning a new language, less really is more. When you are going to study the
‘binge’ way, you will panic out. This is not the most effective way of
studying. Maybe you did this when you were at school and stayed up late to
attempt to absorb every little thing for the exam the next day. It was probably
very stressful. The same goes for learning a new language like Dutch. But if
you want to learn it properly, you need to take time and be patience. Keeping valuable notes is also important, that's where Microsoft teams come in handy.
If you
don’t give it the 100% effort because you don’t really want it, the learning
process will be a lot slower. You will practise less when you do not put your
100% effort in it. But you need to keep in mind that quality goes over
quantity.
Pretend you do not speak English
It is
logical to switch to English when you are panicking halfway through a Dutch
sentence. Often people ask to the other person if they speak English. But stop
with this! Pretend you do not speak English to force them into speaking Dutch
to you. Say in Dutch that you don’t speak English, when they speak English to
you. The only time you can speak English when you have something difficult to
explain or the other person is starting to look angry. Otherwise, always speak
Dutch and your confidence will grow and your Dutch skills will grow too.
